This course introduces and integrates basic kinesiological/biomechanical principles related to the normal function/movement of the cervical spine and upper quarter with the basic principles of patient/client management of common conditions of the cervical region and upper extremity. The use of tests and measures associated with abnormal movement/function of the cervical spine and upper extremity, particularly those for joint integrity and mobility, muscle performance, range of motion, and pain are covered. Principles of physical therapy diagnosis as well as the determination of the associated anatomical structure or musculoskeletal pathology are introduced, as is the medical management for selected upper extremity conditions.
