This course introduces the students to foundational concepts, applied tests and measures and interventions that serve as a framework for all stages of patient/client management. Focus topics include the disablement model, documentation requirements, and application of the Guide to PT Practice. Tests and measures will be introduced in the following categories: assistive and adaptive devices; community and work integration or reintegration; environmental, home and work barriers; and self-care and home management. Direct interventions include ADL training, prescription and application of adaptive devices, and assistive devices to facilitate ADL. Infection control procedures will also be covered. Patient/client related instruction, communication, and documentation will be emphasized throughout the course. Clinical experiences are integrated into this course.
